Just Keep Running!

Just keep running.  Just keep running.  Just keep running, running, running!

I am super excited for all of the races I am doing in the next year!  There are four so far.  The first one is the Kaiser Permanente 5K run on September 8.  I found out about this race while reading the Georgia State REC magazine.  My mom and I have done this race for the past two years with Team Georgia State.  The race begins and ends at Turner Field.  There are some major hills on the course especially heading back down Courtland Street.  This year, my mom created a team for her work, FDIC.  You can sign up to run with Team FDIC through the KP run website

The second race I am doing is the inaugural Disneyland Tinkerbell Half Marathon.  My mom, my friend Donna, and her sister, Emma are all running this race at the end of January.  I am assuming we will all dress up as Tinkerbell.  It should be cool to see every one's outfits.  I will have to make an amazing Tink outfit to compete with everyone else's outfits though!  It is the first race of this kind, so I do not know much about it yet.  They did release a picture of the medal though.  It makes me so much more excited now that I know what I am running for!

The third race I am doing is the Disney Princess Half Marathon at DisneyWorld.  I have done this race the past two years.  It is so much fun to run through the parks and see all of the characters!  All the runners, men and women, dress up.  I LOVE the costumes!  The first year I was Tinkerbell and the second year I was Belle.  This year the group I am going with decided to coordinate outfits, so we will each be a different princess.  I might be Jasmine since I already have a Jasmine costume from a couple Halloweens ago (but that is only if I am in good shape...hopefully after all these runs I will be!).  After the first race I did, I created a YouTube video with some helpful tips.

Finally, the last race I am planning on running is the Warrior Dash on May 20th. In May, I went up to North Georgia to go hiking and visit a waterfall. I saw a lot of people with Warrior Dash medals (why they were hiking right after the race is beyond me!). I looked it up and it sounds like a lot of fun! It looks like a Tough Mudder but shorter and cheaper! It is a 5k with fun/dirty/challenging obstacles. I have never done a race with obstacles, but I think it is do-able especially after getting in shape for all of these other races.

Although I have done two have marathons before, I plan to seriously train for these upcoming races. I semi-semi-trained for my first Disney Princess Half Marathon. By that I mean I ran three miles straight everyday from January 1 until race time in March. It wasn't too bad running without much training, but I can definitely do better. During my second Disney Princess Half Marathon, I did not train at all. I was super tired and thought I was going to get picked up by the evil bus! Thankfully I didn't, I got my medal, and I got a picture with Minnie and Mickey at the finish line (I didn't get one with Mickey and Minnie at the castle during my first race because my mom didn't think there was time!).  I have already started training for these future races.  I have been running the past two days already and hope to keep it up!  Stay tuned to this blog for more race updates!
