Songs to Cry To

My new favorite quote is "SWEAT IS FAT CRYING".  I think its kind of true!  I have been trying to workout or run at least once a day.  So far it is going really well!  I even wrote down the schedule for yoga and Zumba classes at Lifetime Fitness if I ever want to switch it up.  I don't necessarily NEED my iPod when running or working out.  This might be weird, but I actually find that it is a great time to think.  There have been times that I have been daydreaming while running and soon realize that time has flown by and I'm almost done with the workout!  If I do have my iPod there are always certain songs that I turn straight to.  I have listed some below (in no particular order).

I've been to two Zumba classes since I started writing drafts for this post and realized something.  The first class was all salsa music and although I enjoyed it, I didn't love it as much as I loved the second Zumba class I took which included hip hop music.  I guess with Zumba/types of dance, music is key (although I'm still a daydreamer/thinker while I run).  I know everyone has their own workout playlist, but this list is super random, so maybe these songs were overlooked while making your list:

1.  "Lose Yourself" by Eminem-  All of his songs are good to workout to because he is just so darn angry all the time.  It pumps me up!
2.  "Good Vibrations" by Marky Mark and the Funkybunch-  Just picturing Mark Wahlberg is motivation to work out!
3.  "Empire State of Mind" by Jay Z and Alicia Keys- The beat is amazeballs!
4.  "In the Ayer" by Flo Rida
5.  Anything from Musicals like High School Musical or GleeI really like running to songs from musicals for some reason.  I think its because it makes me realize how hard the actors had to work to be able to sing AND dance/perform at the same time.  I picture myself doing this while I run and sing along.  :o)
6.  "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO-  Enough said.  (If you haven't heard it, listen to it.  Then you will realize why I don't have to say anything else.)
7.  "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce and Jay Z  Just watching Beyonce strut her stuff down the street in this video shows why its a great song to workout too.
8.  "Single Ladies" by Beyonce-  This is just a great girls anthem to rock to.
9.  "What's My Name?" by Rihanna
10.  "The Great Escape" by Boys Like Girls- I had to throw in a punk-type song.  I mean they are always jumping around (doing lots of cardio) in their videos.
11. "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga- I love dancing to this song on the xbox Kinect too.  Classic Gaga.
12.  "All I Do Is Win" by DJ Khaled-  How can you not feel like a workout winner after singing about winning for three minutes and forty-eight seconds?
13.  "Back in Black" by AC/DC-  The opening to this song is amazing!  If I could choose a walk-up song (baseball) or an intro song (movies), this would be it.  I loved it being used at the beginning of Iron Man.  Good job, Iron Man song picker outer!
14.  "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks- This is kind of a slow song, so I don't know why it motivates me.  I think its the lyrics.  They are somewhat empowering in a weird way. :o)
15.  "Bust a Move" by Young MC- This song makes me think of Zac Efron at the beginning of 17 Again.  It just makes me want to bust a move!
16.  "Crazy Bitch" by Buckcherry-  Try sitting still while listening to this...I see you tapping your foot!
17.  "Get Low" by the Lil John- This song reminds me of Sandra Bullock getting low in The Proposal.  That scene brought me to tears because  it was hilarious!  This song definitely makes you stop and wiggle wit it.
18.  "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Houston-  Another song that makes you move...how can you not dance?!
19.  "Till the World Ends" by Britney Spears-  You know I had to put a Britney song on here!  Actually, I could've filled spots one through twenty with Britney songs, but I refrained.  She has great dance/workout jams.
20.  "Party In The USA" by Miley Cyrus- This song will definitely make you nod your head like yeah and move your hips like yeah while working out!  Plus, she gives a Britney shout out!

I could definitely go over 20 songs, but everyone has their own songs they love to dance and workout to.  What are some of yours?  Which of the songs above is your favorite?  Have you heard them all?  Leave a comment below!

  1. I like any song that makes me want to get up and dance! I so can't wait for my husband to get back so I have a free babysitter and I can get to the gym. Among other things.
