Friday Favorites 9/30

Its finally Friday!  Plus, its actually the last day of September.  Can you believe it?!  This year has officially gone into double digits with its months.  I am super excited about this weekend though - I shall be attending my cousin's wedding in Alabama plus its my one year anniversary with HWMNBN!  Fun times ahead for sure!  Expect a post Monday about the weekend's festivities.  Have a good one!

I am obsessed with these. Must make these for fall..or a Snow White party!

This is my future child.

Super cute!  It will have extra costs than just carving the pumpkin though because of the ribbon and buttons.  I wonder if you can remove them and save them for the following years.  Am I being too frugal?

More buttons!  It would be cute to do this with all the seasons!

Except mine would be too humongous...

Genius idea.  I am definitely doing this when I buy my first fridge.  Might get a little messy with all the chalk dust though...at least it will be pretty pink, blue, green and purple dust.

If you haven't seen Crazy Stupid Love yet then you are missing out on a great movie and on this!

I always have pictures of cats and dogs, so here is a bunny for you.  I saw a bunny cross the road the other day...it looked just like this - like it escaped from some one's house and is free at last.

I love this photo!  They didn't get upset about the horrible weather and instead turned it into an awesome photo op!

Paper dolls of all the Disney princesses!  They did a horrible job on Pocahontas though...she looks like a caveman.

Gorgeous.

Pink and fabulous.

Loving the groom's excitement/fist pump!

Cookie cutters to carve pumpkins?!  Why don't I ever have genius ideas :o(

Born this way.

If this is real and not photoshopped then I must go here immediately!

Hilarious!  We all have an awkward stage.

My all time favorite TV couple is definitely Lily and Marshall from How I Met Your Mother, but Jim and Pam are a close second.   I didn't start watching until after they got married and had a baby, but my friend Charlie and HWMNBN have said I missed out on their awesome story.  From the quote below, I must agree.
"Four years ago, I was just a guy who had a crush on a girl, who had a boyfriend. And I had to do the hardest thing that I've ever had to do, which was just to... wait...And, a lot of people told me I was crazy to wait this long for a date with a girl I work with but I think, even then I knew that... I was waiting for my wife." -Jim

Loving the lace.

Love this picture of Lauren, Lo, and Whitney.  I hope they have this framed in their house.  The perks of you and your friends being celebs - you guys have awesome photo ops.

Oh, Matthew - please make a new movie soon.  Preferably with Kate Hudson.

Sparkles and one shoulder?!  Fab fashion overload. Fab fashion overload.

Must. buy. pink. blazer.

Perfection.  I don't know if its a good or bad thing that Rachel Berry and I have the same wardrobe.

Pretty...weird that I love that this looks like its a napkin holder?

I have this sign on my bedroom door, but it does look cute outside too.  Might have to buy a stake.

Look at that puppy look!

Again...simple yet genius!

Ugh...I am in love with Ryan Gosling's style in Crazy Stupid Love! Guys: take notes.

True.

Team Edward.

Kids will work for candy!  I hope this is a costume and his parents did not put him on the street to collect candy from strangers.

Yes, I actually do want this cookie jar.

Does Money Buy Happiness?

Sign I found at a store in Savannah, GA

So I was thinking about money and happiness earlier this morning and wanted to see what y’all opinions were on the topics. I am in my mid-twenties and this is about the time that people are figuring out what they want to do in life, with who they want to do these things with, etc. Most of my friends are either back in school or pulling a Dolly Parton working 9-5, but either way they are all working toward making money and having a career. If you're friends with or dating someone in their mid-twenties you should definitely be prepared to encourage and support his/her current career and life decisions because that's just the stage we are in in life.

Then I started thinking about the topic of people my age working hard to get to the top to be successful. I don't think it’s a bad thing to want to/have to work hard to get to where you want to be especially now because you can enjoy the benefits later (a la with your future family/kids). A friend of mine thinks the opposite - that I will be sad and lonely because either my future husband will be working all the time and/or I will be working all the time. I disagree. (The people I know who have the $ to do fun things with their families take the time off to do them - not saying they don't spend an hour or two a day on work stuff while on vacation though. They won't remember the hour they spent working, but they will remember building sand castles or their kids meeting Mickey Mouse for the first time.) At the root of both of our opinions is that family and relationships come first. It’s just my opinion that one has to work hard to play hard with the family/significant other/friends.

So, that brings us to the big question: Does money buy happiness???

My personal opinion is - yes, to a certain extent money can buy happiness. People with money can go on memorable vacations with their families and friends, throw fun birthday parties for their kids, and do exciting new things together. Do I think you can be content without money? Of course, but if offered a million dollars I believe every single person would gladly take it because they are going to spend it on something that makes them happy whether it be a shiny fast Lambo, a European vacation, a piece of art, a donation to a favorite charity, etc.

Now as mentioned previously, I'm not saying jobs and money are the end all be all. Maybe I am being naive and you can't have both money and a stong family, but I've seen it work.  My goal is to be a teacher which obviously isn't a job that rolls in the big bucks, but I really enjoy social studies and spending time with the kids. On the other hand, I am encouraging everyone to go after what YOU love - and if by chance you/your significant other/your friends work a lot to make money then be proud because you/he/she worked hard for it! Just be sure to spend it well and with the people you love. In the end, we all need someone to spend retirement with anyway. Our relationships with friends and significant others are what we are left with in the end :o)

EXHIBIT A: I also read that there are three things that help increase the chances of one’s marriage staying together and one of them is being wealthy. (The other two: both partners having college educations and both getting married after the age of 25.)

EXHIBIT B:

Let me know what your opinion is in the comments below!

KP 5K

HWMNBN and I before the 5K!

A few weeks ago I completed the Kaiser Permanente 5K in downtown Atlanta.  It started at Turner Field, winded through downtown Atlanta and ended back at Turner Field.  I have participated in this race the past two years with my mom and the Georgia State team.  This year, my mom decided to start an FDIC team (where she works) and be team captain!

The Turner Field parking lots are transformed with tons of tents for each company.  The companies have food, drinks, messages, etc for their employees and their families.  It is a really fun event!

My goal this year was to run the 3.1 miles in under 30 minutes.  With my training, I was always around 31 minutes, so I didn't think I would make it.  My official time was 30:19! Ugh, so close!  Next time I won't be walking up some of that darn hill on Courtland Street!

Although Lily has put a damper on my training for future races, I am determined to run the Tinkerbell and Princess half marathons in under 3 hours.  There is really no excuse not to accomplish this goal since that leaves enough time for  12 minute miles and at least 30 minutes to take pictures with all of the characters.  I just need to find time to train after work and taking care of Lily!  I am about to start the Jeff Galloway training program on October 4!  I'll be sure to do a post on this in a few days.

Cabs, I mean, Food Trucks Are Here!

Food trucks, like hedgehogs, are so IN right now.  If you haven't seen a food truck, they are basically like a whole restaurant that can drive right up to your house, office, wedding reception, etc.  That's right, all the cool people are actually renting food trucks for weddings and parties!  They are usually cutely decorated and have a catchy name.

I randomly came across some food trucks on Twitter...tacos, BBQ, cupcakes, etc. that frequent the midtown Atlanta area.  It always makes me so jealous seeing their locations posted on Twitter...so close yet so far away.  Although I can get to midtown from work in about 20 minutes, it seems far to go to get lunch by myself.  But...thankfully one local food truck, Yumbii decided to travel OTP (outside the perimeter - of Atlanta) and come to the 'burbs.  My mom and I decided to go to the address Yumbii posted since it was semi close to my house.  And SURPRISE! - when we got to the location there were numerous food trucks!  I have never had food from a food truck (except for hot chocolate once from a catering food truck on the set of The Vampire Diaries, but I don't really count that since it was just hot water and a mix packet), so I was really excited to try it.

The different trucks that were in this shopping center included: Hail Caesar, Queen of Tarts, Tex's Tacos, Honeysuckle Southern-Inspired Gelato, Yumbii, and Pressed for Time Paninis.  Although each truck had something that sounded super delicious, I had to get tacos from Yumbii since I follow them on Twitter and they were how I found out about the event.  Plus, they were Atlanta's first food truck!  I ordered a combo #1, which included 3 tacos and a drink for $9.  I wanted to try different things so I ordered a fish taco, an Asian beef taco, and a chicken taco plus a fruit punch Gatorade.  Everything was super delicious!  I must say the chicken and fish tacos were my favs though.  After tacos, my mom and I got gelato from Honeysuckle.  I ordered the Snacks on a Plane flavor, which included peanuts, caramel and pretzels in vanilla gelato.  Yum!

My first food truck experience was great!  I definitely recommend trying them.  Twitter is a great way to find the locations of the trucks, but they usually post their schedules on their websites as well.  Next time I want to try to hunt down the cupcake food truck!  Delicious!

Happy 21st Birthday, Logi Bear!

Today, the young one in my family today turns the BIG 21! Frightening!  Although she still can be a pain sometimes (*cough*stealing my camera*cough*) she can also be quite funny and amusing at times too.  For example, she thought of some great catchphrases for my blog like "Oh My Blog"...hilarious!  Come to think of it, I should probably do a post of Logan's one-liners.  I must also mention that she is probably my biggest blog and YouTube supporter!  So nice of her! Here are some pictures below from her first 21 trips around the sun:

Although she looks cute and surpirsed, she is probably about to scream that I am touching her new toys. ;o)

Happy birthday, young one!  And remember don't do anything I wouldn't do tonight!  (That narrows down a lot of your choices, muhaha!)

OMGHHKP - Elle and Blair In ATL!

Elle and Blair Fowler came to Atlanta, Georgia for a Cellairis event this past Saturday, September 24.  The YouTube beauty gurus created a line of cell phone covers with Cellairis that people can mix and match each day depending on that day's outfit.  They range from nautical to girlie with detailing from lace to rhinestones.  I have posted a picture below of a few of their cases:

I got to the Mall of Georgia at 10:30am even though the event didn't begin officially until 1pm.  I read either on Twitter or Elle&Blair that a girl was flying in from New Jersey!  If they had this dedicated of fans, I knew I needed to get there early!  When I arrived, they had the ropes and pink carpet already set up.  There were also about 15-20 girls already in line.

Waiting in line to meet Elle and Blair
Once I got into line, I tweeted Elle, Blair, and Cellairis that I was in line with about 20 other girls ready for the meet-up!  Next thing I knew, Cellairis tweeted me back asking what kind of phone I had.  They gave me a free signed Elle and Blair case from their Los Angeles, California meet up!  How awesome and nice of them!

Although I waited in line for over 3 hours, I met some new people and had good conversations with them, so time flew by pretty quickly.  Plus, I brought a book and snacks as back up ;o)  Cellairis was also tweeting contests throughout the wait time to win free Elle and Blair cases.  Funny enough, the two girls right behind me in line actually ended up winning cases as well!  I guess other girls weren't tweeting like we were!

When Elle and Blair arrived, everyone went crazy chanting their names.  They also did a walk through of the whole crowd which was really nice of them, so even the last person in line could see them.

Finally it was my turn to meet them!  First, I got pictures on the pink carpet with my new OMGHHKP phone cover.  Next, it was my turn to go up to Elle and Blair's table.  They talked with me for a bit, signed their photo, and took photos with me.  When I was talking to the girls, Blair goes, "Haven't we met you before?" and I was like "Yes, at your last Atlanta meet up at Lenox mall!".  Whether she really remembered from 2 years ago, read my tweet or my RSVP on Elle&Blair, it was really cool that she remembered!

After meeting them, we got to pick out a cupcake from Jilly's Cupcakery!  I chose birthday cake and my mom picked Georgia peach.  So cute and yummy!

Here are some other pictures I took while waiting to hear the announcement of the winners of the Taylor Swift concert tickets (not me unfortunately but congrats to the winners).

Overall, it was such a great event- from meeting new people to the pink carpet to the cupcakes to meeting Elle and Blair!  I hope they come back to Atlanta soon!  Thank you Cellairis, Elle and Blair for a wonderful time!

*** Official Cellairis photos will be posted as soon as they are available on Facebook!
