Girl Crush: Lauren Conrad

Photo from here.
So this Girl Crush post is a little obvious.  I have been following Lauren Conrad since she was on Laguna Beach with some of her high school friends.  Then she moved to Los Angeles and started filming The Hills which focused more on Lauren and her life.  Although I was in college and  Lauren was following her dream in the fashion industry, I could still relate to her life, friends and relationships.  I think it is really cool that Lauren is only a year older than I am, yet she is such an inspiration and role model.

Although Lauren got her start in reality television, the empire she is building is all her own.  She began as an intern at Teen Vogue with Lisa Love.  After that, she got a job working at People's Revolution (a fashion PR company) under Kelly Cutrone.  Both of these experiences seemed to have shaped her future fashion career immensely.  Those jobs gave her a lot of behind-the-scenes experience at different fashion shows.  I'm sure this inspired Lauren to eventually launch her own clothing lines.  She currently has Paper Crown (a higher end brand sold at stores like Nordstrom) and LC by Lauren Conrad (a more affordable line sold at Kohl's stores).  Both brands are extremely successful.

Lauren loves beauty as well as fashion.  Not only was she a mark. spokesperson until Ashley Greene took over in 2010, but she also runs a beauty website, The Beauty Department, with her friends Kristin Ess and Amy Nadine.  It has tons of tips and tutorials - check it out (I love the hair tutorials like whoa)!

Oh yeah!  Did I mention she is also a published author?!  In 2009, Lauren launched her first book, L.A. Candy.  It turned into a trilogy with Sweet Little Lies and Sugar and Spice.  She has said the books are based loosely on her experience in Los Angeles and working in reality television.  I think thats one reason why the books were so addicting for me - I loved trying to guess which parts were real!  Lauren decided to make a spin off series; the first book, The Fame Game, debuts April 3, 2012.  She also has Lauren Conrad Style which is soon to be followed by Lauren Conrad Beauty if you need some more Lauren in your life.

Here I am at her first Atlanta book signing back in 2009!

Here I am with friends at her book signing in 2010!
With all of this success, Lauren still seems to be the girl next door she always has been since living in Laguna.  Even though she moved to Los Angeles at a young age, she didn't let LALA Land get the best of her.  She is still best buddies with some of her old high school friends like Miss Lo Bosworth (Girl Crush post on her to follow!)!  She also seems really close with her family too which I think is cool!

I love this photo of Lauren and Lo!  I hope they have it framed in their house!

    1. Yes, the books are amazing! My friends and I could see pieces of The Hills on it and parts of characters she modeled after friends (at least in my opinion!) You have a month to read up before her new book comes out!

  2. My celeb girl crush is (and has been for a long, long time) Jennifer Anniston. Obviously, Friends is basically my fave show ever; she's gorgeous, she's fit, any hair style looks amazing on her, she's talented. I feel she's gotten jipped on her life, though. She's never really been able to find a HUGE hit past Friends, and Brad Pitt was insanely stupid to ever leave her! (Esp. for Angelina, but I never liked her anyways.)
