Put Some Spring In Your Step

Photo from here.
Happy first day of spring!  I don't know about where you live, but in Georgia it is mid-80's right now!  Spring into summer with some of these great outdoor activities:

Take a hike.
Hiking is always an awesome spring and summer activity.  Just be sure to pack lots of water and trail mix! I've been wanting to hike up Stone Mountain in the Atlanta area forever, and the weather is finally nice.  I might see if I can get a group together to hike it this weekend.

Explore paddleboarding.
I've wanted to try paddleboarding ever since I saw Jennifer Aniston doing it in Hawaii one vacation.  It looks like an amazing full body workout.  I know Zach Roerig from The Vampire Diaries tweeted about doing it at the lake last summer!

Attempt bouldering.
Bouldering is like rock climbing, but you usually don't need equipment because you don't climb as high.  Look for locations in your area - you might even find some bouldering clubs around.  It's a great workout and can be a fun competitive activity too.

Go on adventures in a park.
There are so many fun things you can do at a park.  First, I suggest taking a picnic (save any bread for the cute baby ducks!).  Walk around the park.  Join a pick-up soccer game.  Bring a frisbee and play with friends or your dogs.  Go for a jog.  Try yoga outside.  Park activities are endless!

Get your garden on.
Acccording to CalorieCount.about.com, a 150lbs person can burn 272 calories/hour while gardening.  You are also beautifying your yard and the Earth!  Think of all the digging and how heavy those bags of soil are!

Go ol' school with rollerblading.
Basically since the day I gave my rollerblades away in the 90's is the day I wanted them back.  I saw girls rollerblading around the path in college and even have a friend that rolls around his apartment complex still.  I've been wanting to go to a place like Play It Again Sports and pick up a pair.  Today's Groupon Deal in Atlanta is half off at Play It Again...coincidence?  I think not!

Ride your bike...outside.
I've been taking some spin classes recently, but this awesome weather makes me want to ride a bike outside instead of in a dark room!  Being out and enjoying the flowers and sun is definitely good for the soul.  Just remember to buy a helmet!

Swim.
While my neighborhood pool doesn't open until the end of May (the countdown is on!), lakes and oceans are open year round.  So, get out to a local lake and enjoy some mother nature!
