In a few short hours I will be flying down to sunny (Yay for 81* weather!) Orlando, Florida for the 20th Anniversary Walt Disney World Marathon! I've been so excited about this race since I registered for it at the beginning of last summer. Since then, I have logged over 236 miles while training in 5 months (the first race I've legitimately trained for...). Unfortunately, due to weather and a family emergency, my training hasn't gone on as planned in the last couple of weeks. It does make me a little nervous going into this race. Having said that, I am still pumped to go down there and see what I can do!
My three goals for the race on Sunday are:
1) Finish in the allotted time of 7 hours.
2) Don't lose any toenails.
3) Have fun!
As you can see I have really set the bar high for this race... It will be my first marathon, and I really just want to see what I can do with this physical and mental challenge I've set for myself. I'm also excited to have my first ChEAR Squad going down with me. Usually my mom runs the races too, but she has no desire to attempt a full marathon. My sister and my godmother are also joining us this trip. I'm looking forward to taking them to the Expo on Saturday and showing them what runDisney is all about! Maybe I can recruit some new people into the runDisney-Obessed Fan Club. Who knows?
I'll be tweeting, Facebooking, and Instagraming a lot throughout the weekend and especially during the race. Be sure to follow along! You can also get my progress via text or e-mail during every 5K of the race by signing up here.
I hope to have lots of photos and stories come Monday, so check back on the blog then! Wish me luck!
Stay fit and fabulous,
A
