My blogging buddy Megan over at Running Toward the Prize did a post on all the races she did in 2012. I thought it was a really cool idea, so I decided to "admire and acquire" it. I didn't do 12 in 2012 (close with 10!), but I definitely did some fun ones:
The Tink Half was awesome for many reasons. It was my first race of 2012 and my first race in California/Disneyland. It also helped me achieve the Coast to Coast Challenge in 2012! The best part? I ended up making my goal of a sub-3:00 half marathon!
This was my third Princess Half Marathon. While I didn't meet my goal of breaking 2:30, I beat my 2011 race time by 40 minutes and my Tink Half time by 10 minutes! I was a PR-breaking machine at the beginning of the year. I also completed the Coast to Coast Challenge with this race.
This was my first race that involved mud and obstacles....and zombies! I'm not going to lie it was killer. I've probably never had a more challenging race due to weather - cold rain and mud. It was an absolute blast though, and I'd love to do another obstacle race soon!
The Color Run - April 7, 2012
The Color Run wasn't timed, but it was still fun because I got to run it with friends I've never run with before! It was a great time even though I looked like an Easter egg the next day...but at least it was Easter Day!
Dirty Girl Mud Run - April 29, 2012
This was my second obstacle course run, but it was a lot easier than the Zombie 5K. I ran it with some lovely FitFluential ladies I met via Twitter. I actually won free $75 race registration through a Twitter Chat as well. Oh, the benefits of social media!
Stache Dash 5K - May 5, 2012
The Stache Dash was great because I got a 5K PR I had been working on for a while and I did it with a huge group of friends. I enjoy planning fitness outings with my friends. They must be getting lazy in Atlanta these days without me around ;o)
Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure 5K - September 9, 2012
This was a bucket list item! I have always wanted to do a 5K through Central Park, and this was the perfect race to do. The city was still quite and sleeping on this Sunday morning. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. I loved every minute of it. It was also my first solo race ever!
Runner's World 5K - October 20, 2012
I got a crazy PR of 26:33 during this hilly Pennsylvania 5K!
Runner's World 10K - October 20, 2012
Surprisingly, this was my first ever 10K. Since it was my first, I like to still count this race as a PR too - 58:41! I also ran it only 30 minutes after the Runner's World 5K where I also PRed. Go me!
Runner's World Half Marathon - October 21, 2012
My best race to date would have to be the Runner's World Half Marathon. I ran it solo and without music, but I still ended up with a crazy PR of 2:13!? This race gave me a lot of confidence in my running abilities. I can't wait to set new goals and see what I can do in 2013. Sub-2:00 half marathon maybe?
I'll be posting a list of 2013 fitness activities/races that I plan on doing. Until then, please leave me suggestions because I love hearing about new races. Happy 2013! I hope your year is off to a wonderful start.
Stay fit and fabulous,
A

These races all look like so much fun (and I know the Runner's World events were a blast!). I've always wanted to do a Disney race!
