1. My 1st Marathon (January 13, 2013): The Walt Disney World Marathon takes place next weekend! I am beyond excited for it because I have been training since forever! Plus, I cannot wait to have the official title of "marathoner"!
2. My 4th Walt Disney World Princess Half Marathon (February 24, 2013): This has become a no-stress race since I've done it for the last three years. I can literally do this course in my sleep now. Even so, I still get excited for it every year since it is the anniversary of my first half marathon in 2010. Obviously this race is all about the costume - I'll be rocking my Cinderella costume from Halloween this past year.
3. A Birthday Race (February): There are a bunch of Valentine's Day themed races in February, but I just haven't decided on the right one. There is even a 1-miler in your undies! Sorry to disappoint you, but I won't be doing that one...
4. Climb to the Top (March 3, 2013): I am super excited that I came across this race on Active.com. Participants race up 66 flights of stairs to Top of the Rock (the first place I went in NYC after my move to CT). This will be unlike any race or physical challenge I've tried before. First, Top of the Rock and then the Empire State Building, right?! In addition, it is for a great cause. The money raised benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Please consider making a donation and starting the new year off right!
5. 5 Boro Bike Ride (May 5, 2013): I've been looking forward to this 40-mile cycling event for almost a year! Registration opens January 22, and it's been announced that the event is now "first come, first served" instead of a lottery system. This is great news for me because it just means I have to be quick to register in the first 24 hours. Done and done.
6. Urban Dare NYC (May 18, 2013): Trivia + Running + Scavenger Hunt = a few of my favorite things! I would love to do a race like this. Unfortunately, I missed the Great Urban Race in Atlanta and NYC in 2012, and I've been itching to participate in one of these events ever since! I found this one via Active.com, and it seems small yet fun (good practice for the Great Urban Race).
7. Obstacle Race (TBA): I'd love to do another obstacle race. My goal would be to ultimately do a Tough Mudder, but I need to strength train like crazy to get to a level where I felt able to do the obstacles. There is a Tough Mudder in Atlanta in April though which is really tempting at the moment...
8. Great Urban Race: NYC (August 18, 2013): This is the ultimate race/scavenger hunt/trivia event! Winners from each city get to compete for a grand prize in Las Vegas. How cool is that?! I missed this event in 2012 twice, so I really want to do it this year.
9. SoulCycle (Year Round): I just started working for SoulCycle at the end of 2012! I can take classes for free, so my fitness goal for 2013 is to take advantage of this work benefit. I plan to take a class once a week - hold me to it!
What is on your fitness bucket list for the new year? I'd love to read about them in the comments below!

Stay fit and fabulous,

that is awesome alec! I need your help on learning how to run outside - I SUCK! I want to start with a 10 k this year since I ran 2 5ks last year! And that is awesome about soul cycle! I am doing unlimited flywheel classes starting next week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam! I've already registered for three of the races above.
DeleteI saw your resolutions post! I can definitely help you out. Running is awesome because anyone can start and eventually get good at it. It sounds like you're on your way with completing 2 5Ks last year! I suggest finding a really fun 10K to do OR one that has a great cause, so you have more motivation to move you along during the 6 miles. Let me know how Flywheel goes. I can't wait to read about it on your blog!
I am earning my coast to coast medal this year as part of my resolutions.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Good luck and have fun :o)
